Frequently Asked Questions
What is SFTP?
SFTP (SSH File Transfer Protocol) is a secure way to transfer files over a network. If you have a server or NAS that supports SFTP, Nightbeam can connect to it and stream your media.
What video formats are supported?
Nightbeam supports common video formats including MP4, MKV, AVI, and MOV. Playback compatibility depends on the codecs used in your files and your device's capabilities.
How do I organise my media?
Long-press on any folder to mark it as "Movies" or "TV Shows". Nightbeam will remember your choices and display your content accordingly.
Are my credentials secure?
Yes. Your server credentials are stored securely on your device using the system keychain. They are never transmitted to any servers or third parties.
Can I use Nightbeam offline?
Nightbeam requires a network connection to access your SFTP server. However, any content you've downloaded for offline viewing will be available without a connection.
Does Nightbeam work with all SFTP servers?
Nightbeam is compatible with standard SFTP servers. This includes most Linux servers, NAS devices (Synology, QNAP, etc.), and cloud servers with SFTP enabled.
