Frequently asked questions

What is Halftone Pro?

Halftone is free to use — previews, filament tuning, depth relief, editing, all of it. Halftone Pro is a single one-time purchase that unlocks exporting: STL files for every filament, a multi-material 3MF, and swap instructions. There is no subscription.

How do I restore my purchase on another Mac?

Choose Halftone › Restore Purchases from the menu bar, or press Generate and choose Restore purchase. Purchases are tied to your Apple ID.

Which printers does it work with?

Any FDM printer. Single-extruder machines print the exported STLs with filament swaps at the listed heights; multi-material systems such as Bambu Lab AMS and Prusa MMU or toolchangers load the 3MF and map each part to a slot.

What is Card Relief, and why does it download something?

Card Relief uses a small on-device depth model to lift the subject of your image out of the card. The first time you use it Halftone downloads that model, about 94 MB. After that it runs entirely on your Mac.

Does Halftone upload my images?

No. Every step — colour matching, depth estimation, file generation — happens locally on your Mac.

Can I use my own filaments?

Yes, and you should. Add the spools you own with a name, colour and opacity preset, or import a CSV. Halftone only ever picks from filaments you say you have.
